Sunday run is on - 6:30 in Kaneohe - we're ready to run after all the eating!

We pushed last week's planned run at Ho'omaluhia Botanical Gardens and the Old Pali due to 'life', but we're planning on doing it this Sunday, November 28, meeting at the front gate to the gardens at 6:30 a.m.

Those wanting to do most of the beautiful hilly 10-miler will continue at the back end of the Ho'omaluhia property up the Old Pali Road and to either the overpass or even the lookout for the inspired.

Those wanting to save their legs a bit for the marathon or who may just not used to Ho'omulahia may prefer to do the rigorous 5 miles it offers.

We'll have water on hand for before and after the run. There is water in the garden's property.

Call the store at 262-3278 on Friday or Saturday if you have questions. Call 561-7015 if you cannot locate the runners on run morning. Look forward to seeing many!

Sunday run canceled but we will run on 11/28!

Aloha all. Same run planned - 10 miler to Pali Lookout, but we'll do it on 11/28. If you are running the marathon, you may opt to just do an out and back in the gardens - a 5 mile run.

Sunday runs from now until Honolulu Marathon

Aloha. As an fyi to all, our Sunday running schedule will look like this between now and the Honolulu Marathon:

- Sunday, November 14 - Support the Friends of Kailua High School and run either of the 5k or 10k runs. Great community event! Race starts at Kailua High School.
- Sunday, November 21 - Ho'omulahia Gardens 10 miler. We'll meet at the Gardens and run to the Pali Lookout and return.
- Sunday, November 28 - No run due to holiday weekend.
- Sunday, December 5 - Easy 6-8 miler from store to Lanikai and back, breakfast at Cinammon's following.

We'll update run plans here and on Facebook. If you are not already registered for the Kailua H.S. 5k and 10k, come into to the store to register now through Saturday.. 262-3278.

 

 

Sunday Run, November 7 - Kailua to Lighthouse, leave at 6 a.m. from store

We apologize for the delay in posting the Sunday run.....mainland travel got in the way.

This said, we're looking forward to a beautiful run tomorrow a.m., from Kailua Town (store) to the Mokapu Lighthouse. We have one driver picking us up. If there are more than four of us, we'll need another driver.

So please post a note here or on FB if you think you might join. The route has us going up to Kalanianeole Hwy, running the Old Highway, then down to Waimanalo and in around the nurseries, and then down the highway again (with this view, albeit a tad later in the morning) and onto the the lighthouse.

If you run to the lighthouse and back down the path, the run becomes almost 16 miles. If you run to the parking  area, it will be over 13 and a tad under 14.

Bring water. There will be water on the old highway for us, there is water at Waimanalo Beach Park, and water at Sandy Beach Park.

Honolulu's 10.10.10 Run - the Tantalus Ten!

Belated congratulations to all the Tantalus 10 finishers on Sunday, 10.10.10!

This race is a grueler for many readying for the marathon - or not - and very well supported by the Mid Pacific Road Runners team. Thank you MPRRC!

Sunday Long Runs - please note next Sunday Run schedules here!

Aloha. With Honolulu or other marathon training under way for many and also a desire to keep long runs noted while we take a family marathon-related vacation, we want to address the long run schedule in ensuing weeks.

Note that this time of year we support the Marathon Readiness series hosted by Mid Pac Road Runners Association and 808 Race Hawaii. Marathon Readiness Series

But if you just want to run socially as we regularly do, join us for free weekend runs of 6 miles or more! We do many long runs of shorter nature in nature!

Here is a schedule for the next few weeks:

• Sunday, September 26 - No long run. We're suggesting that runners with longer run needs participate in the 808 series run cited above. IF YOU WANT TO RUN SATURDAY, CALL THE STORE. WE HAVE A 10  MILER  AND 18 MILER PLANNED, but are not actively showing either since we are promoting the Marathon Readiness series run.
• Sunday, October 2. No run planned due to vacation. Will post long runs to consider!
• Sunday, October 9. No run planned due to vacation. Will post long runs to consider!
• Sunday, October 16. 5 or 10 mile  run choices involving Botanical Gardens, 6 a.m. start. Coffee following

Old Pali Road Results - from Sunday, September 19

Mahalo to Mid Pacific Road Runner's Club (MPRRC) for hosting another great event on island.

If you have not participated in any of their events, do plan to in the future. MPRRC puts on great community runs at low cost and at fantastic island settings.

On Sunday, September 19 close to 100 runners enjoyed the beauty of the Old Pali Road (just off Kam Hwy and leads to the Pali Lookout) for a rigorous 4.4 mile run.

Old Pali Results

Sunday running is Saturday running this week - let us know if you can join! 5:30 a.m. start, to beat the heat!

Our regular Sunday run will be on Saturday this week. Many Kailua runners will be doing the MPRRC Old Pali Run on that day and we want to support it!

As some of us need to run longer mileage this weekend, we'll host our long run on Saturday, from the store location, at 5:30 a.m.

We'll run anywhere from 8 to 13 miles. Here are two routes we'll take. Those needing to put in more mileage (October marathoners) could add a Lanikai loop or two or a marsh loop, for an added 2-4.5 miles.

Windward Half and Rosie Wall 5K Results

Mahalo to so many for supporting the Windward 1/2 Marathon and 5K Events that benefit the Boys & Girls Club, Windward Chapter.

The event was a great success! And who among us did not enjoy hearing the sounds of the keiki running the 100 yard dash? Thanks to all the families who brought their keiki out for this good fun too.

Since there were so many great efforts by local store friends and family, we're linking you to final comprehensive results for each event here and will post any notable PRs we find in the next day.

Sunday Long Run to the Lighthouse leaving from the store at 5:30am, September 5th

Sunday long run (5:30 am departure from the store) will be to the lighthouse. With a couple of scenic detours we can get the run to 16 miles! (For those with October marathons...) If you want to do less, we'll suggest an 8 miler variation. We'll have at least two cars to bring us back to Kailua Town. 

 Let us know on Facebook if you are coming so we can coordinate the right number of cars to bring everyone back. See you all there!
